Vacuum Plating – Matt Paint
Definition and Function
  • Vacuum plating is a surface treatment process in which a thin metallic or metallic-luster coating is deposited on the substrate in a vacuum environment by evaporation, sputtering, or ion plating (PVD).
  • A matt paint layer is then applied on top of the coating to reduce reflectivity, creating a soft metallic finish while enhancing wear, oxidation, and weather resistance.
  • This process is widely used in high-end decorative parts, automotive interior trim, consumer electronics, home appliances, and cosmetic packaging — offering both metallic texture and a premium matte appearance.

Vacuum plating enables a variety of metallic colors such as silver, gold, black chrome, titanium, and rose gold.

When covered with matt paint, the surface achieves a soft, low-gloss finish with a refined texture. Typical finishes include:

  • Matt Silver – strong metallic feel, soft gloss.
  • Matt Gold – elegant, stable color tone.
  • Matt Black Chrome – deep, low-key metallic black.
  • Matt Color Finish – customized colors through paint formulation.
